Hello and welcome again to yet one other variation of Street Food Tuesday. I wasn’t truly planning on making this a thing…but possibly I should? I mean, I’d take do-it-yourself highway meals any day, however it surely feels especially fun on a Tuesday, right?
Every yr when overdue March rolls around, my mind soar drifting toward springtime and Easter recipes. I am all of the time so impressed by Greek meals this time of year. These gyros are a household favorite, and have been a fall again recipe of mine for years. While they’re usually now not traditional, they’re very a lot impressed the common Gyros you may discover at the streets of Greece…
I mean, sort of, I trust that most likely gyros crammed with thinly sliced lamb. I also don’t trust they upload any feta cheese to their fries, but again, that is my version!
Some of you likely realize this recipe…and have hopefully made it and beloved it! But as said in Sunday’s Favorites post, I needed to share a decide on handful of my go-to recipes from the cookbook with you guys this week. I’m now not certain if that’s thrilling to you or not. But I simply love these recipes SO a lot that I needed to present them a few love right right here on HBH. So I’m going for it – permit me know what you think!
It’s tough to be counted again to once I first built this recipe. I know for a truth that NULL of my older brothers, Creighton and Brendan, have been the inspiration. Creighton’s favourite meals may simply be a Gyro. Every time he’s in Colorado, these gyros are his first request.
Brendan at the different hand was the only who truly helped with the pattern of those gyros. He’s now traveled to Greece a few times. He all of the time brings again NULL things, remarkable further virgin olive oil, and heavily nice recipe ideas.
These gyros are impressed from his first trip, and he insists that fries are a ought to to any nice gyro. Obviously, I didn’t complain. and that’s sort of the tale behind why I built this recipe. It took a bit tweaking, but if I got it right, I knew it was cookbook material. And into the HBH cookbook it went.

Now, the details.
This recipe takes a bit little bit of work, but nothing too difficult. I especially suggest marinating the chicken, both the evening before, or within the morning, earlier than you head out for the day. Then, whenever you get residence all you’ll desire to do is roast the chook and make the fries.
Marinate the chook in yogurt and spices, to create an further smooth and flavorful roasted chicken. This chook is something but boring, and further importantly, now not the least bit dry.
Alright, the fries. These are my favourite aspect and they’re a sport changer when it involves a nice gyro. Just season them up with garlic and herbs, oven roast (along with the chicken), and toss with feta. Addicting.
Stuff the chook into your favourite pitas (or possibly do-it-yourself naan??). Serve with tzatziki, my do-it-yourself tzatziki recipe can be within the cookbook. Then upload pickled onions, radishes, and any different recent spring like toppings you love. The further stuffed your pita is, the better. This is certainly one of those sandwiches the place it’s greatest to pass big, or pass home.
Trust me. The fun factor about this recipe is that whereas I don’t have a ton of photos, we do have a video all made up and in a position for viewing! We’re truly operating on creating further video content!
